Vietnam’s Exports Gain New Momentum in Orders and Production

Vietnam’s Exports Gain New Momentum in Orders and Production

Aug 28, 2026

Vietnam’s export market continues to rebound, driven by production recovery, a surge in year‑end overseas orders and robust global market demand. Vietnam’s total trade volume exceeded USD 712 billion in the first seven months of this year, with major export categories including electronics, textiles and garments, timber and agricultural products maintaining growth momentum.

Vietnam's export sector gains momentum

In terms of overall foreign trade fundamentals, Vietnam’s import‑export activity keeps rising. According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, total import‑export turnover reached USD 52.33 billion in the first 15 days of August alone, comprising USD 25.413 billion in exports and USD 26.914 billion in imports. As of August 15, 2026, cumulative exports for the year hit USD 345.4 billion. Notably, the parallel rise in import figures is not a sign of trade weakness; instead, it is a clear reflection of a full‑scale recovery in Vietnam’s manufacturing sector. Growing demand for raw materials, components and machinery and equipment lays a solid foundation for expanded production capacity and year‑end order fulfilment.

Moving away from its past development model reliant on low‑end processing and OEM production, Vietnam’s timber industry is undergoing industrial transformation. Rebounding orders, especially improved demand across processing and manufacturing segments, are helping the sector break through development bottlenecks and inject fresh impetus into exports.

Increased demand fuels Vietnam's exports

The electronics industry is expected to register double‑digit growth. Textiles‑garments, timber and agricultural sectors are prioritizing quality improvement rather than blind output expansion. Textile and garment exports rose 2.67% in the first seven months. The timber industry has increased investment in product design and R&D, built in‑house product portfolios and gradually secured control over production, design and research‑development processes, greatly boosting the competitiveness of Vietnamese timber goods. At present, Vietnam’s wood products are shipped to 167 countries and regions worldwide, enjoying broad market reach and increasingly mature overseas footprints. The agricultural sector is advancing digital transformation to raise product added‑value.

Trade agreements enhance Vietnam export prospects

Vietnam’s entire export sector is now trending toward quality upgrading. Building on a 21.7% year‑on‑year export increase recorded in the first seven months, together with the year‑end overseas consumption peak, Vietnam’s total exports for 2026 are projected to maintain double‑digit growth. To sustain this growth momentum for key pillar export industries, enterprises must upgrade product quality, secure raw material supplies, lift local content ratios and pursue market diversification. As a Vietnamese cabinet wholesaler, Union Wood will actively align with relevant policies and contribute to steady growth in Vietnam’s foreign‑trade economy.
