2026 VIFA ASEAN: Building a Core Springboard for Vietnamese Furniture’s Global Exports

2026 VIFA ASEAN: Building a Core Springboard for Vietnamese Furniture’s Global Exports

Sep 04, 2026

The 4th ASEAN‑Vietnam International Furniture & Home Decor Exhibition (VIFA ASEAN 2026) officially kicked off on September 2 in Ho Chi Minh City. This four‑day industry gala brings together nearly 200 domestic and overseas enterprises. It keeps opening up overseas channels for Vietnam’s furniture and handicraft sectors, helping local industries integrate deeply into global trade and supply‑chain systems.

Co‑hosted by the Ho Chi Minh City Branch of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, VIFA Joint‑Stock Company and the Vietnam Building Materials Association, the show is held at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center. It stands as a key stop on Asia’s autumn furniture exhibition circuit.

Vietnam's role in the global furniture market

This year’s large‑scale autumn Asian furniture shows form a continuous industry tour spanning locations including South Korea and Vietnam. Running from August 27 to September 11 across multiple countries, with Vietnam as the second venue, this full‑chain regional exhibition layout greatly facilitates global buyers for centralized site visits, price comparison and product selection. It significantly boosts procurement efficiency and market visibility of Southeast Asia’s home and building‑materials supply chains.

As one of Southeast Asia’s most authoritative annual furniture events, VIFA ASEAN consistently targets gathering furniture industries across ASEAN nations and building Ho Chi Minh City into a regional furniture‑trade hub. This edition features an upgraded exhibitor lineup. Besides local Vietnamese manufacturers of furniture, home decor and handicrafts, brand enterprises from more than ten countries — the United States, Canada, China, Japan, South Korea, the Netherlands, Singapore, Malaysia and others — have taken part, further highlighting its international and professional credentials.

Future of Vietnamese furniture exports

The Director of the Trade Promotion Agency under Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade stated that VIFA ASEAN is a highly influential annual event far beyond a mere product showcase. Serving as the annual barometer for Southeast Asia’s timber and furniture sectors, the exhibition acts as a vital platform for Vietnamese enterprises to foster international partnerships, exchange technologies and keep pace with consumer trends. It empowers local businesses to connect with global resources and accurately seize new supply‑chain opportunities worldwide.

Vietnam’s timber‑furniture industry has undergone steady upgrading and delivered remarkable results over the past two years. In 2025, Vietnam’s wooden‑furniture exports exceeded USD 17.2 billion, with a trade surplus surpassing USD 13.9 billion. For the first seven months of 2026, exports of timber and wood‑based products maintained robust growth, hitting over USD 10.2 billion in total export value and a trade surplus above USD 8 billion.

Consumer preferences in global furniture market

Behind these soaring export figures lies a critical inflection point for Vietnam’s furniture industry. According to the Deputy Secretary‑General of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Director of its Ho Chi Minh City branch, export volume alone no longer defines the sector’s competitiveness. Today international buyers look beyond price and product quality; they place heavy emphasis on comprehensive strengths including design innovation, raw‑material traceability, environmental compliance, sustainable development, delivery efficiency and long‑term supply capacity.

Evolving market demands are driving transformation within Vietnam’s furniture industry: shifting away from reliance on production‑capacity dividends toward higher‑value‑added products; moving from OEM contract manufacturing to original in‑house design; and transitioning from order‑based production to proactive R&D and innovation. This marks the official advance from “Made in Vietnam” toward “Designed in Vietnam”.

Vietnamese furniture industry growth projections

Multiple specialized industry seminars will run alongside the exhibition from September 2 to 5. Centered on core topics such as current home‑market conditions, cutting‑edge trends, cross‑border e‑commerce development, and production‑procurement matching, the seminars break down barriers across the full industrial chain covering design, manufacturing, import‑export and e‑commerce. They promote high‑quality coordinated growth for ASEAN’s furniture industry and build Vietnam’s springboard for furniture exports to the globe.
