Vietnam's wood and furniture industry has maintained a stable global trade status for many years, ranking among the world's top five wood exporters. Despite numerous challenges, the industry has shown a strong upward trend amid transformation, continuously expanding its global footprint. Relevant enterprises have also ramped up investment to seize new growth opportunities.

In 2025, Vietnam's export value of wood and wood products reached nearly USD 17.3 billion, breaking the USD 17 billion mark for the first time and setting a historic milestone. This represents a 6% increase compared with 2024. At present, Vietnam exports wood products to 45 markets worldwide, with the United States, Japan and China accounting for approximately 65% of total exports.
The United States remains Vietnam's largest export market. Last year, exports to the U.S. reached USD 9.06 billion, accounting for about 45% of total exports—nearly half. This underscores the U.S. market's critical importance to Vietnam's wood industry, with a year-on-year growth of 4.1%.

Industry experts note that the sector has entered a new phase, where growth driven solely by expanding production volume is becoming increasingly constrained. As global markets impose stricter regulations on traceability, emissions and sustainability, Vietnamese manufacturers are increasing investment to adapt: shifting to greener production methods, advancing digital transformation, and refining product designs to align with global aesthetic preferences.
Wooden furniture accounts for the largest share of export value, demonstrating the improved manufacturing capacity of Vietnam. Local enterprises have also strengthened their ability to undertake high-precision orders, reflecting the gradual maturity of Vietnam's manufacturing technology, with production hubs across regions delivering strong performance.

Looking ahead, amid evolving global standards and market competition, the key to industrial transformation and upgrading lies in building local Vietnamese brands, increasing investment in design and technology, and expanding both international and domestic markets simultaneously.
