Amid the complex global economic landscape and prevailing market uncertainties, Vietnam's timber industry has delivered impressive results at the start of 2026. According to Vietnamese media reports, the latest statistics released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam show that the industry's monthly export revenue reached 1 billion US dollars in February this year. The cumulative export volume in the first two months hit 2.61 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%, achieving a steady growth trend at the beginning of the year.

As one of the most crucial core industries for Vietnam's export trade, the timber and wood products sector has maintained a sound momentum of steady development in recent years. The export growth in the first two months of 2026 has injected strong impetus into the industry's achievement of its annual export target. Based on the current trend, the industry's export revenue is expected to steadily advance toward the target of 18.5 billion US dollars this year. Insiders pointed out that the monthly export performance of 1 billion US dollars in February is highly significant, especially considering the Spring Festival holiday this month. Production and logistics links in Vietnam's timber industry have quickly resumed operations after the holiday.

In terms of export markets, the United States still dominates Vietnam's exports of timber and wood products, accounting for as high as 50.4% of the market share, remaining the largest consumer market. Apart from the US, China and Japan hold 14.2% and 13.4% of the market shares respectively. Notably, Vietnam's exports to these two markets both recorded growth of varying degrees in the first two months of this year, indicating promising prospects.
As one of Vietnam's renowned large-scale cabinet manufacturers, Union Wood has also achieved remarkable results in the first two months, with a rise in order volume compared with previous years. This year, we have launched multiple new product series and color options that better align with the prevailing trends in the US market. Our years of commitment to quality assurance have also won us more cooperative partners.

Nevertheless, the industry still faces ongoing challenges. Fluctuations in raw material costs, instability in international shipping prices, and the impact of changes in US tariffs have all constrained the development of Vietnamese timber enterprises. Therefore, while releasing the data, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also reminded enterprises to continuously optimize their product mix, reduce the proportion of primary log processing products, and accelerate the transformation to deeply processed finished furniture with high design value. Only in this way can the industry further consolidate and enhance its sustainable competitiveness.
