What Are Vietnam’s Major Export Products in 2026?

Jul 03, 2026

Vietnam’s foreign trade sector has achieved leaps and bounds in recent years. Its total export volume hit USD 475 billion in 2025, representing a 17% year-on-year surge. This milestone elevated Vietnam to the world’s 18th largest exporting economy. The robust growth momentum carried over into 2026, with exports exceeding USD 122 billion in the first quarter alone. The country has set an annual export target of USD 500 billion, aiming to outperform last year’s performance.

Key export commodities from Vietnam

Vietnam has long moved past its old export model that relied solely on traditional agricultural goods such as rice and coffee. It has evolved into a powerful diversified export hub in Southeast Asia, shipping a wide range of goods including electronics, apparel, furniture and footwear. The nation has built a multi-tiered foreign trade industrial system with strong global competitiveness.

Three core factors fuel Vietnam’s explosive export growth. First, massive foreign direct investment from industry giants like Samsung and Intel has turned Vietnam into a vital global electronics assembly hub, laying a solid foundation for its high-end manufacturing exports. Second, Vietnam has signed multiple bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements that cut tariff barriers, streamline export procedures and grant easy access to key Western markets in Europe and North America. Third, numerous manufacturers have shifted production capacity to Vietnam to diversify supply chain risks. They leverage the country’s low labor costs and stable workforce to ramp up local production and export volumes.

Vietnam export data analysis 2026

Electronics and machinery manufacturing stand as Vietnam’s dominant export pillars in 2026, generating the lion’s share of foreign trade revenue. Electrical machinery and electronic products top the list with export earnings of USD 158.92 billion, accounting for nearly half of Vietnam’s total exports. Machinery and computer products rank second at USD 78.96 billion, maintaining steady growth and supplying upstream global industries such as electronics manufacturing and telecommunications.

Traditional labor-intensive industries remain vital revenue drivers backed by consistent worldwide demand. Knitted apparel, footwear and woven non-knit clothing recorded export values of USD 48.33 billion, USD 25.19 billion and USD 16.19 billion respectively, cementing Vietnam’s position among the world’s top three garment exporters. Furniture and bedding also posted impressive export returns worth USD 15.21 billion.
